The mission of ILSI is to research, develop, and advocate policies and actions that promote biomedical science, biotechnology, Ag-Biotech and medical device innovation in the State of Israel.
- Create a favorable environment for the State's biomedical and health care technology community to discover, produce, and deliver products that benefit society.
- Provide a forum to identify, analyze, and develop positions on public policy issues that affect Israel's biomedical and health care technology interests.
- Provide a forum that will allow the Life Science industry a platform from which it an exhibit its innovation, exuberance and growth to the international markets and healthcare players.
- Communicate to public officials, providers, patients, and the general public the value embedded in the Israeli life science technology community as a contributor to both health and economic growth.

The Israel Life Science Industry or ILSI is composed of medical device, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical service companies, universities and private research institutions, and providers of services to the industry such as venture capitalists, lawyers, accountants and incubators. To date, over 500 companies, ranging in size, have been identified of which approximately 300 have joined ILSI.
The goal of ILSI is to develop solid information about the medical research and manufacturing community in Israel, and to make that information available to political leaders, the news media, venture capitalists, investment bankers, and the public. It is exactly this information required by potential investors be it strategic corporate players or financial investors worldwide.
The intent is to demonstrate that medical research and manufacturing is a major contributor to Israel’s economy - with unusually great potential for financial growth and job creation.
Israel can boast some of the world's finest scientific works. By demonstrating a firm correlation between the academia, medical institutions and industry, ILSI assures potential investors that dynamic entrepreneurship is backed by great science. In fact, Israel is ranked second and third in terms of number of publications in leading life science magazines per 100,000 inhabitants and senior faculty members per million inhabitants, respectively.
ILSI provides the life science community a strong voice with which to communicate with Public officials both in Israel and abroad. Is only when one exhibits size and united strength one can hope to affect a desirable change in policies and attitudes.
ILSI Objectives
- Enhance interaction and provide a unified voice for its members.
- Act as a single source from which members and scientists can obtain professional and organizational information.
- Disseminate scientific information to and provide opportunities for networking between companies, potential investors, and other interested parties.
- Provide forums for the academic community and the health care technology industry, to foster innovation and technology.
- Identify and attract funds for companies for the development of research infrastructure and facilities.
- Develop strategies to encourage university and hospital researchers to get their products to the market and create ways to commercialize the scientific know-how.
- Provide a forum to identify, analyze and develop positions on public policy issues that affect Israel’s biomedical and health care technology interests and propose policies and actions that promote technology development.
